Selena habló con Daniel sobre el single y por qué le pegó tanto: "Cuando escuché la canción la primera vez, me encantó el hecho de que era como una historia sobre todas las cosas que tendemos a aferrarnos y los patrones que tenemos", dijo. "Y soy muy, muy vocal sobre mis experiencias personales al tomar decisiones que tal vez no sean necesariamente saludables para mí".
Este es el segundo sencillo del álbum debut de Trevor, "nicotina". Por el lado de Gomez, este featuring le sigue al lanzamiento de "Boyfriend" el pasado abril junto con la edición deluxe de "Rare", su último trabajo discográfico.
